Seeing as we're fashion writers and avid Sex and the City fans, we like to think we have a pretty good grasp on Carrie Bradshaw's iconic style. We know which 2019 trends she'd wear with aplomb, and just as importantly, we know which ones she'd never wear—not at home in her Upper East Side apartment, not at a high-brow art gallery event, and not at brunch with Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte.

If the show hadn't ended in 2004, and it was still running well on into 2019 (we can dream, right?), we're confident we know which classy, yet kooky, pieces we'd see sitting in her closet. We're also confident we know which pieces she'd pass over in favor of midi dresses, suit separates, and Manolo Blahnik pumps. Keep scrolling to see which 5 items Carrie Bradshaw would remove from your closet, and see the ones she would add instead.

1. Dad Sneakers

It's no secret that Carrie Bradshaw was a fan of heels—more specifically, Jimmy Choos and those aforementioned Manolos. As she once put it, "I'm very, very comfortable in heels. The higher the better." As such, we have a strong reason to believe that she'd never be seen sporting chunky dad sneakers. Instead, she'd opt for strappy sandals. It makes sense: They're just as trendy as dad sneakers, yet they're a little more in line with her overall aesthetic.

2. Super-Distressed Denim

Carrie didn't wear jeans very often. If she did, they weren't super distressed. Instead, they were cuffed and ankle-grazing. She'd typically forgo denim pants completely in lieu of a flowy midi or wrap skirt. In fact, we're not opposed to officially naming Bradshaw the late '90s/early '00s queen of satin skirts.

3. Puff-Sleeve Shirts

We love a puffy-shirt moment just as much as anybody else. However, thanks to Carrie's '90s-style satin slip dresses and tailored suit separates, we don't think she'd partake in the trend. In fact, we'd go as far as to say she'd remove our puffy sleeved-shirts from our closets in favor of something sleeker and more fitted… Yes, we're talking about halter tops and tube tops, which became synonymous with SATC over the course of the show's six seasons.

4. Beach-Inspired Jewelry

Beach-inspired jewelry might be one of our favorite jewelry trends of the moment, but we have a feeling the same wouldn't hold true for Carrie. If our hundreds of hours of SATC binging are any indication, she'd choose a classic pearl strand instead. That doesn't mean she'd only go for pearl necklaces, though (although she definitely would). We have a feeling she'd experiment with pearl bracelets, necklaces, and anklets as well.

5. Monochromatic Neutrals

Carrie Bradshaw wasn't afraid of color. Her bold closet wouldn't allow for a monochromatic moment, at least not a neutral-toned monochromatic moment… Instead, she'd switch up an all-beige or all-black suit with colorful accessories, overcoats, or bold details. She'd also play with length and texture. (We have a feeling she'd finish the outfit by stepping into a pair of neon Manolos.)
