Don't get us wrong—we'll protect (and continue to wear) our collection of signature autumn nail colors for the rest of our days. Brooding cult-classic shades of burgundy, purple, navy, and rich emerald never go out of style and meld nicely with plummeting temperatures and our re-emerging sweater collection. But, in all honesty, said fall nail colors are 150% predictable. With all of our favorite nail polish brands debuting crisp new colours and collections for the new season, why not expand our fingertips' colour horizons?
We've surveyed the newest, most exciting nail colours and trends, and ahead, we're highlighting 15 less-predictable shades we suggest putting on your beauty roster. From less-expected neutrals to less-expected statement-makers, we can't wait to lacquer up our nails with some help from these chic nail shades. Keep scrolling!
1. Rosy Caramel
Nudes are great all year round, but this hue of caramel (spiked with rosy undertones!) feels especially cosy.
Meet the equally flattering sister to your favourite shade of emerald. Creamy and highly pigmented, this slightly bluer take on the seasonal classic is great to have on standby.
This is one of our favourite new autumn colours—it's moody, but in a good way.
4. Coal Gray
OPI's new Scotland Collection is the stuff of dreams. The colour we're craving most? This sleek, cool shade of coal gray. Plus, that jaunty name just can't be beaten.
5. Spiked Cinnamon
J. Hannah is one of our all-time favorite nail polish brands, and pretty much every shade was made for your autumn wardrobe. That said, if you're looking to switch out your cherry pop shade of red this season, look no further than this rusty shade of cinnamon.
6. Studio 54 Rose-Gold
This colour looks great stacked with jewellery and is more subtle than some of the chunky glitters that flooded our IG feeds all summer.
7. Oceanic Teal
This is an enchanting alternative to the more obvious shades of navy, sapphire, or emerald.
8. Bewitched Black
Sorry, but we can't start talking about autumn beauty trends without a little bit of haunted innuendo. Black Sugar from Tom Ford is mysterious and gorgeous pick as it's not quite purple, not quite red, not quite black, but a rich, shimmering medley of them all.
9. Granny Smith Apple
Dior blessed us with four limited-edition nail polish shades this month, and intermixed with a bold taupe (Rush Hour), a blue-gray (12 A.M.), a pretty plum (9 A.M.) lies this totally unexpected punch of chartreuse (called Rush Hour). Shades of green and yellow have been a constant for 2019, but this is the perfect beauty accent to crossover into autumn.
