For the record, we love Emmanuelle Chriqui. And no, it has nothing to do with a certain early-aughts HBO series now being turned into a feature film, which she’s rumoured to be starring in. What really spurs on the girl crush is that we recently learned Chriqui is a master Marshalls shopper, has tons of feel-good fashion advice, and isn’t afraid to admit she liked the other guy on 90210. Read on for our exclusive interview with this stylish star...
What’s your take on the perfect fall must-have?
“A statement piece perfect for layering! The simple use of a standout accessory can make any outfit feel new and give you the confidence you need to face the day.”
If you could trade places with any fashion blogger, who would you be?
“Definitely my friend Jamie Chung! Her style is as creative, colourful, and sexy-cool as her personality.”
What’s your “Chriq”-ret to smart shopping? (We just had to.)
“When I shop, I look for quality fashion to add to my closet that not only looks and feels good, but also fits well and makes me feel confident. I like to shop the racks at Marshalls—they get thousands of new items every week and you never know what kind of amazing deals you can find on high-quality pieces, like Italian leather handbags and designer shoes!”
Now, forever, and always, who is your fashion icon?
"Kate Moss, because she takes risks while always managing to look effortless."
What would you name your fashion blog?
"A Little Bit Chriqui (that way everyone would learn how to pronounce my name!)."
Who was your girlhood crush growing up?
“My girlhood crush was Brian Austin Green from 90210.”
Name a fashion risk that paid off.
“Years ago, I wore a vintage Halston gown to the SAG Awards. I literally bought it at a consignment store for $100 and had it tailored to fit my body. I felt like a million bucks!”
What’s one fall piece you feel truly and fully confident in?
“These black designer boots with gold buckles that I spotted at Marshalls make me smile every time I put them on! You can say a lot with accessories and no matter how I’m feeling, they provide me with an instant confidence pick-me-up that I’m proud to show off.”
What’s your favourite word?
How would you describe your off-set style?
“I’m a very casual person. Off-duty, jeans and t-shirts are my staples. I pretty much live in muscle tees, ripped jeans, sneakers, and hats. “
Foolproof tricks for girls shopping on a budget?
“Don’t mistake price for quality! Even if you’re shopping on a budget, be sure that you love what you’re about to buy and that it’s a quality piece that will last more than just one season hanging in your closet.”
