All Hail Emma Thompson and Her Incredible Personal Style

Loving and idolising the national treasure that is Dame Emma Thompson is by no means a unique experience. Nearly every one of us will think of her when we have a good cry thanks to her heartbreaking scene in Love Actually to the song "Both Sides, Now" by Joni Mitchell. She's the goddess who brought us the most stunning adaptation of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility and won an Oscar for the screenplay. There's simply no scene that she won't steal; she is everything. This year, she co-wrote (with her husband, Greg Wise) Last Christmas, a film featuring the music of Wham!—what's more to love?

Well actually, there's so much more to love. Off-screen, she's also a dream. We will never forget when she presented at the Golden Globes, barefoot and holding a martini. Whether she's attending a West End show wearing a pair of dungarees or out with her daughter, Gaia, she always seems to be having the best time. She's palpably thrilled in every off-screen photo she's papped in, and she goes to red carpets and poses like she's actually having the best time.

And she has been for years, including at the premiere of Love Actually (below) with a very serious Hugh Grant and very young Keira Knightley.

Her excitement and genuine joie de vivre translates to her original and entirely chic personal style. From tailored suiting in bright hues to beige looks and co-ordinated separates with bold shoes, we've come to truly love every outfit Dame Emma Thompson wears. Be it while she's out protesting in defence of the environment or on the red carpets of her films, she always brings a sense of excitement to her looks that we truly admire. What we love about her most is the fact that you can tell that when she's getting dressed, she's actually having a good time.
