So Kate Middleton Has a Chanel Bag, But It's Not the One You'd Expect

As with any royal tour, the Duchess of Cambridge’s tour of Sweden and Norway has been a fashion spectacle. It’s only day three and the trip has already seen her chose beautiful looks from Erdem and Alexander McQueen, but it was her latest ensemble that had our accessory alarm going off. She’s more likely to carry an inconspicuous clutch, however, Kate decided on a burgundy Chanel Nouvelle Flap Bag from the brand’s A/W 15 collection—and we were enthralled.

It's a bold step away from the beloved Chanel 2.55 that you might expect a classic style icon like the DoC to favour. Kate decided to wear her Chanel with a '60s-style red-and-white houndstooth coat by Catherine Walker, semi-opaque tights and matching (of course) burgundy block heels by Tod's. Any keen Middleton style followers might recognise Kate’s burgundy Chanel from when she gave it a one-time whirl in Paris last year. It was the first and last we saw of the bag, before it quickly went back into hiding, only to resurface in Stockholm today, much to our delight.

Some are even suggesting soon-to-be-princess Meghan Markle might be influencing Kate’s newfound love of bags. For her first day on tour, Kate wore Mulberry's Mini Seaton black top, a similar style to the one Meghan chose for one of her first royal engagements. While Kate's old season Chanel might be hard to track down, we've found you a shoppable alternative. Keep scrolling to see—and shop—Kate’s latest look.
