I Can't Fault Dakota Johnson's Simple Jeans-and-Flats Pairing
Dakota Johnson’s style is on fire right now, and I don’t expect anyone to disagree with me. From her monochromatic tailoring looks to her Cinderella shoe moment, the star has been pulling out all the style stops for her recent slew of appearances in conjunction with the promo tour for her latest acting gig, the film adaptation of Jane Austen’s acclaimed novel Persuasion.
Still, in a flurry of fancy and glamorous looks, many of which feature designer buys I could only dream of owning, Johnson was also spotted out and about wearing an uncomplicated, everyday ensemble that’s so pure in its simplicity I can’t help but want to steal it for myself.
On Johnson: Re/Done 70s High Rise Stove Pipe Straight-Leg Jeans (£265)
Sporting a pair of Re/Done's Stove Pipe jeans—a style our editors can (and have) vouched for—Dakota looked effortless as she paired them with a slightly slouchy-fitting white T-shirt and classic black horse-bit loafers. Backless ones at that.
Although I can’t say this look is groundbreaking or new, it does reinforce the idea that, in fashion, where trends can come and now at the drop of a hat, wardrobe basics such as this are forever and have everlasting appeal. Scroll on to shop Johnson’s go-to jeans below as well as other options for the rest of her outfit at every price point.
1. JEANS
The jeans both Johnson and our editors rate.
The cross-over fastening adds interest to classic denim.
Kendall Jenner has been wearing Khaite jeans on loop.
2. LOAFERS
If you fancy trying a backless pair like Johnson's, try these.
3. WHITE T-SHIRT
I’ll be adding this to my next COS order (most likely along with this dress).
When I need a T-shirt top-up, M&S is the first place I go.
