The Cult Buys Of 2017: The 17 Pieces That Dominated Your Insta Feed

This year has seen a number of new cult pieces emerge, from the Gucci quilted belt bag to M&S star-print dress. The two things they all have in common, however, is that they found their fame on Instagram and are now impossible to track down. According to Lyst, global fashion search engine, the most-searched-for Instagram buys of the year include Rejina Pyo's puff-sleeve dress, the Le Specs x Adam Selman sunglasses and the wooden Cult Gaia Ark bags. But we have some things to add to this list too, as you can't talk about 2017's cult buys without mentioning that green Réalisation dress and those Dior slogan kitten heels.

Keep scrolling to see the 17 pieces that dominated your Instagram feed in 2017.

1. Isabel Marant Étoile Checked Jacket

Style Notes: This has been the year of the checked blazer, and if we had to pick one that dominated, it's this Isabel Marant Étoile linen double-breasted blazer.

2. Shrimps Pearl Antonia Bag

Style Notes: There were plenty of cult bags this year, but the Shrimps pearl Antonia bag is one of the hardest to get ahold of.

3. Rixo Printed Dress

Style Notes: London-based brand Rixo had a stratospheric rise this year, and this printed wrap dress from the autumn collection was worn by every influencer we can think of.

4. Ganni Checked Top

Style Notes: We could think of at least 10 Ganni pieces we could add to this list, however this check-print top was arguably the biggest print of the year.

5. Réalisation Dress

Style Notes: In July, we declared this green Réalisation dress the dress of 2017, and in December, we still stand by that statement.

6. Dior Slingback Shoes

Style Notes: This year kitten heels made a comeback, and this had a lot to do with these Dior black heels with J'Dior-logo ribbons—another piece that exploded at fashion week.

7. Staud Bag

Style Notes: The Staud bucket bag with net overlay called the Moreau was one of the most liked bags on Instagram this year. And now it comes in pink, making us want one even more.

Style Notes: M&S's constellation dress sold out every time it was restocked and was worn by a number of Instagrammers, including Erica Davies and The Frugality.

9. Adam Selman x Le Specs Sunglasses

Style Notes: The Adam Selman x Le Specs sunglasses have an impressive A-list fan club including Kendall Jenner, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Kaia Gerber, so it's not surprising that the £75 sunglasses are hard to buy. Net-a-Porter alone sells hundreds of these in just a few days every time they're restocked.

10. Topshop Silver Boots

Style Notes: At London Fashion Week in February, instead of an expensive designer item, it was a pair of £65 Topshop boots everyone was wearing on the front row. Bella Hadid also has a pair.

11. Zara Gingham Skirt

Style Notes: Speaking of affordable cult buys, this £26 gingham Zara skirt had a huge moment this year, and was worn by the likes of Emili Sindlev and Blair of Atlantic Pacific.

12. Mango Dress

Style Notes: There were plenty of Mango pieces that did the rounds on Instagram this year, but we think this white dress from the Committed Collection was the most snapped of them all.

13. Gucci Belt Bag

Style Stalker

Style Notes: Over fashion month, there was a 40% increase in searches for belt bags, according to Lyst, the global fashion search engine, and this was all down to the Gucci Marmont Matelassé, the quilted belt bag.

Style Notes: Rainbow-striped jumpers were also trending this year, but this Gap jumper had quite the fan club and was only £45.

15. Cult Gaia Ark Bag

Style Notes: It was the year of the basket bag—Cult Gaia's Ark bag had a cult following and couldn't be restocked fast enough this year.

16. Lemon H&M Print

Style Notes: H&M's Sicilian-inspired print came in every item you could possibly need in your holiday suitcase, and it joined an impressive number of influencers on their travels.

17. Rejina Pyo Dresses

Style Stalker

Style Notes: You'll spot this Rejina Pyo puff-sleeve dress (available in a rainbow of colours) in every street style gallery from 2017.

Next up, how to wear rainbow stripes every single day of the week.
