I Spent 3 Days at Copenhagen Fashion Week and Saw These 9 Items Nonstop

Copenhagen Fashion Week is outside of the traditional fashion month schedule, however, it is increasingly becoming an important showcase for buyers, editors and tastemakers to discover what are the next big things in fashion.

The designers in this city are in many ways ahead of the rest and up for doing things differently. Danish designers often use innovative sustainable technologies first, but this conscious mindset doesn't mean their designs are lacking in personality or originality. Many of the most interesting styling tricks and agenda-setting brands now come out of Copenhagen Fashion Week. That being said, CFW is now attended by some of the most high-profile women in the industry.

The street style in Copenhagen is just as playful and adventurous as the outfits you see on the catwalks. I just spent three days in the city attending shows and was struck by just how imaginative Danish women are when it comes to putting clothes together. There were certain items, however, that I kept spotting again and again—from chunky track-sole boots to quilted pastel coats. The weather is even colder and rainier than in England, but that didn't make the outfits any more boring.

Keep scrolling to shop the nine items that I now want to buy after visiting Copenhagen.

1. Zip-Up Jumpers

Style Notes: Zip-front jumpers, such as this cream knit, were a regular fixture at fashion week.

2. Quilted Coats

Style Notes: The most popular coat trend was arguably the quilted coat, as seen here on our girl Monikh.

3. Leather Trousers

Style Notes: Leather trousers were something of a second-skin in Copenhagen. Trousers in black, burgundy and brown were seen everywhere.

4. Cream Roll-Necks

Style Notes: One of the most popular layering items was a cream fine roll-neck. Lots of people wore this under dresses and blouses for extra warmth.

5. XXL Puffer Coats

Style Notes: Copenhagen's winter is severe, so it's no surprise that puffer coats were at every turn. This checked Holzweiler reversible puffer coat was particularly popular.

6. Chunky Boots

Style Notes: This is the item I spotted the most in Copenhagen: big, chunky track-sole boots. The bigger and stompier, the better.

7. Yellow

Style Notes: One of the leading colour trends in Copenhagen was buttermilk yellow. It's a key hue in Baum und Pferdgarten's spring collection.

8. Knitted Vests

Style Notes: Knitted vests were everywhere on and off the catwalk layered over white shirts or fine knits.

9. Rainbow Brights

Style Notes: The Scandi crowd have a thing for bright colours. I spotted many rainbow outfits against the grey skies.
