This Is Exactly How We Want to Be Wearing Checks in 2020

If we were to tell you that checks are trending this autumn, we're willing to bet you'd hardly be surprised. After all, as a pattern often designated for button-down shirts, plaid blazers, and cosy shackets, you'd think that it was the official print of the season

However, while check is certainly trending, we'll have you know that this year the traditional print has had a decidedly modern update. Making much more of a statement than checks of years past, the print has been given a vibrant makeover, appearing in a kaleidoscope of colours across luxury, high-street, and contemporary brands this year.

Though check is often associated with shades of black or grey, this season, we're seeing iterations of rainbow checks as well as the print in bright neons, yellows, pinks, and greens. While colourful checks did appear on the A/W 20 runway—across Stella McCartney, Lanvin, and Brock Collection, to name a few—the trend was solidified when images of the vibrant print started appearing throughout social media. From Ganni's rainbow check to Baum Und Pferdgarten's various patterned pieces, statement checks have begun popping up all over our feed in recent weeks.

Whether you want to invest in a brightly coloured dress or prefer to keep your check to tailored blazers and coats, keep scrolling to shop the cheery trend.
