At this point, we’re accustomed to celebrities announcing their pregnancies and births over social media, so it wasn’t really surprising when model Coca Rocha shared last month that she was expecting her first child with husband James Conran. What was unique was how far along she had gotten without the media catching on—so far along, in fact, that she had her baby this past weekend!
The couple, who have been married since 2010, announced the news on Saturday, March 28, with Rocha tweeting: “James and I are so proud to welcome into the world our healthy and beautiful baby girl, Ioni James Conran! #Ioniconran.” Yes, she even gave the baby a hashtag. But things got even more au courant than that when an Instagram account created solely for the baby popped up just after her birth.
It’s certainly a bold move, albeit one we’re actually surprised isn’t more common amongst the celeb set. After all, North West and Blue Ivy seem like perfect candidates for Insta-fame. But those little ladies can at least walk! Is an Instagram account for a newborn really worthwhile? Have we reached a point where babies are "broadcasting" the minute they start to breathe? Only time will tell, and in the meantime, an abundance of cute baby photos can’t hurt.
