I love jewelry, but that doesn’t mean I buy it often. In fact, while I routinely wear anywhere from eight to 15 pieces at a time, my collection of rings, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings has grown slowly and taken a lot of patience. After all, while jewelry comes at all sorts of price points, it still feels like an investment—as it should. Personally, unless I’m buying something extremely trendy and affordable, I expect that a piece will last me years and that I’ll rarely be compelled to take it off.

So what makes jewelry investment-worthy? Timelessness. This may sound contradictory, but I’m here to inform you that a lot of jewelry trends actually are forever. Take pearls, for example, which tend to rise and fall in popularity. They’ve had a major resurgence over the past few seasons, but even if you temporarily retire your recently acquired pieces, we guarantee you’ll eventually want to take them out of your jewelry box again. Luckily there are quite a few jewelry trends in the same boat, and I’ve rounded them up for you here today. Just keep scrolling to see and shop them all…

Hoop Earrings

Tell someone that hoops are in right now and there’s a good chance they’ll tell you that they were never out to begin with. That’s the sign of something truly classic.

Chain Necklaces

Chunky chain necklaces are currently dominating my Instagram feed, and while I’d usually shy away from spending on an internet-inspired jewelry trend, this is one that will always come back around.

Gold Watches

I’ve always admired the look of a gold bracelet watch, but more recently, I’ve come to really appreciate their role in making any outfit feel inexplicably more powerful, whether it’s by the beach or for brunch.

Signet Rings

Even if you purchase a brand-new one, my favorite thing about signet rings is that they just look like heirlooms, making them feel all the more timeless.

Pearls

As I mentioned before, pearls are having a major moment right now, but their current trend status can’t take away from their timeless nature.

Up next? Six things I refuse to wear in summer (and what I wear instead).

Editor-at-Large

Since starting as an intern back in 2013, Nicole Akhtarzad Eshaghpour has held several roles here at Who What Wear, and she is currently Editor-at-Large. It was a less expected route, seeing as she was graduating from business school at USC when this all began, but it has turned out to be the best one for her. Fast-forward to 2020, and she's moved to NYC from her hometown of Beverly Hills and spends her workdays a little differently from when she was an intern starting out. Currently, she focuses on a weekly mélange of shopping content. As far as her personal style goes, she's largely drawn to classic pieces and neutral basics but will always make an exception for something colorful, printed, or bejeweled as long as it's deemed worthy enough. After all, the only thing she loves more than a good party is dressing up for one. On weekdays, she can usually be found at home eating something delicious for dinner and trying to force her husband to watch 90 Day Fiancé.
