This One Colour Is Going to Take Over Your Wardrobe This Spring
The fashion world can be divided between those who love colour and those who don't. Those who clash with flare, and those who prefer to blend their tones to pared-back perfection. Whichever sartorial camp you belong to, there's one colour that tends to cross over between the two: blue. Whether you wear it in the form of a bright cobalt dress or simply in the guise of vintage-wash denim, it's a hue that's found in just about every wardrobe. At least, it's about to be.
The colour experts at Pantone announce its Colour of the Year on an annual basis, and the colour they've proclaimed will dominate 2020 is Classic Blue. Described as a '"timeless and enduring hue, elegant in its simplicity," it's little wonder its already proving to be a firm favourite amongst the fashion set. In fact, before the announcement was even made, blue was largely evident on the spring/summer 2020 runways, where designers debuted their collections for the new season in September 2019.
Everyone from Boss to Balmain showcased blue in one form or another, with The Row's take on mixing light and Breton tones making for one of the most expensive-looking ways to wear it. And, during the last few weeks across fashion month, the colour has proven a hit with showgoers, too.
As well as the designer pieces on offer, the high street also has an abundance of classic blue clobber to be had at generally more appealing price tags. So keep scrolling to see the impact classic blue is making on the catwalk and the street style scene this spring, and then proceed to shop our favourite pieces from the classic blue colour trend below.
