As a mama-to-be, when I’m not writing fashion stories, I spend most of my time figuring out what things I’m actually going to need when baby bear arrives (less than three months to go!). The short answer, apparently, is a lot. To ease into baby shopping, I’m starting with an item closer to my sartorial tendencies: a diaper bag—the ultimate carryall for all those things we’ll need to tote around every day.

While there are certainly some rather chic designer offerings on the market right now (I’m particularly fond of these Gucci, Prada, and Burberry options), the reality is you don’t need to spend a fortune for a fashionable yet functional diaper bag. The key is choosing something versatile that fits your lifestyle and your baby’s needs. Moreover, you don’t need to sacrifice your style when choosing your diaper bag—it should satisfy your taste and be something you can use well after your baby has grown out of it.

Because the world of diaper bags can seem overwhelming, I’ve searched high and low for the most stylish yet functional bags to suit every taste and lifestyle. And the best part? They all ring in at under $200.

Up next, the ultimate maternity style guide.
