A Definitive A-List Guide to 2017's Must-Have Celebrity Jeans

Have you ever noticed how celebrities know what they're doing when it comes to jeans? Sure, they can pull off a red carpet frock, but the knack of finding a great pair of jeans is a serious skill (yes, we have our priorities straight). To prove our point, a number of under-the-radar denim brands are already emerging as the key celebrity favourites this year. While the likes of J Brand and M.i.h Jeans remain A-list go-tos, a number of lesser-known denim brands are appearing in paparazzi pictures again and again… and again.

Gigi Hadid has been wearing her Sandro straight-cut jeans in a pale blue wash on loop—up to three times in one week, which in the world of celebrity is quite the endorsement. Meanwhile, Bella Hadid and Rihanna have turned to New York label 3x1 for playful, Instagram-worthy styles with statement cuffs. However, one of the most niche celebrity denim brands on offer is proving a real hit with the celebrity crowd yet again: Re/Done. The label tailors vintage Levi's to fit perfectly, and Alexa Chung, the Hadid sisters and Kendall Jenner are all big fans.

Gigi Hadid has been wearing her cropped straight-cut jeans by Sandro on repeat this year, i.e., several times each week. You might not think of the French brand for its denim offering, but Kate Moss and Bella Hadid are also fans of the brand's cuts.

New York–based label 3x1 has quickly become a cult celebrity favourite thanks to its unexpected and playful jeans for those after more than just your average skinny. The hems are fringed, slit or distressed and are loved by Rihanna, Elle Fanning and Bella Hadid.

Mother Denim

Mother is already an established favourite in L.A. circles, with an impressive model following and a Miranda Kerr collaboration. But it is the sporty cropped jeans that Gigi Hadid wore earlier this year that make this one of our key denim labels to note in 2017, as with red stripes down the seams these are clever jeans for the athleisure generation.

Re/Done

If you've looked at a picture of a celebrity wearing distressed jeans in 2017, chances they are by cult label Re/Done. The sustainable brand takes apart original vintage Levi's jeans and then tailors them so they are the perfect fit. Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid and Sienna Miller all turn to Re/Done for vintage-feel denim.

Vetements

Distressed wide-leg jeans from Vetements were big news last year, but they aren't going anywhere for 2017, as the likes of Rihanna and Selena Gomez are still wearing the £700 designs.

Is there anyone who isn't desperate to get their hands on these Vetements jeans?

Black Orchid

Olivia Palermo's go-to denim brand is Black Orchid, as she has the Noah Ankle Fray in numerous washes, and she lives in them during fashion week. Jessica Alba, Kim Kardashian West and Eva Longoria are also big fans.

Good American

Good American was guaranteed to have a powerful celebrity presence, given the label's founder is Khloé Kardashian. But this isn't to be dismissed as another celebrity collection, as Good American fills a gap in the denim market, creating flattering silhouettes for women of all sizes. It's affordable, too, with all jeans under £160. The response has been huge: It made £1 million on its first day of sales in October 2016.

We can see why this brand has been so popular.
