9 Low-Key Outfits I'm Relying on This Winter

When it comes to styling everyday outfits for winter, there are a lot of variables to consider. 1) Staying warm is of the utmost importance. 2) Being able to move in your many, many layers is another key factor. And 3) looking stylish, which doesn't have to fall to the bottom of your priority list. You'll be pleased to hear that there is a way to tick off all of these winter-dressing multitudes, and that's by following the exemplary outfits that I've laid out below.

Throwing open my wardrobe doors, I know I have all the pieces I need to create chic outfits this winter; what I'm lacking in is inspiration. As such, I've been saving casual winter outfit ideas on my Instagram for weeks now, and there are nine standout looks that I can't wait to try—most of which I'm pretty sure I can assemble with pieces I already own or, at the very least, close alternatives.

Scroll below to see casual winter outfit ideas fashion people are already wearing, along with current shopping options for each should you find something you want to invest in that you don't already own. Enjoy!

Style Notes: Quilted outerwear has dominated the past few winters and makes for the perfect cosy and casual cover-up. Pair with a sweatshirt, leggings and either flats or boots for an easy finish.

Style Notes: If trousers aren't your thing that doesn't mean you need to pack up your skirts for good—with knee-boots, tights and cosy layers up top, you can just as easily carry your minis and maxis with you into the winter season. Just add your favourite coat into the mix.

Style Notes: Monochrome dressing—wearing one colour top-to-toe—is a favourite styling hack of influencers and celebrities. Take a wool blazer, match it to your trousers, and complete your low-key look with on-trend Uggs.

8. Jumper + Scarf + Maxi Skirt + Knee Boots

Style Notes: Built-in scarf jumpers are cropping up all over the shopping scene this season, but if you can't find one that works for you, you can re-create this look with your go-to knit and a co-ordinating wrap-around scarf. Denim maxis were all over the spring/summer 2023 runways, too, so this is a look that'll keep you looking current well into the spring.

9. Leather Coat + Jeans + Chunky Loafers

Style Notes: Leather fabrications are my go-to for when I want to feel extra-toasty; they always manage to keep the heat in. This season, fashion people are getting their fix by way of leather (real or faux) outerwear, which goes perfectly with jeans and the chunky loafers you likely bought in the autumn.
