We're Convinced These 5 Bridal Trends Will Take Over Pinterest in 2018

Pinterest is still the place where bridal trends take off, whether it's a jam jar or a quirky seating chart. We have spotted five trends during S/S 18 Bridal Fashion Week that we think will be huge on Pinterest in 2018, and many are simple tweaks or accessories that can instantly update a traditional bridal gown. Scroll below to see the five bridal trends that we think will explode on Pinterest in 2018.

1. Black ribbons

Rainbow-coloured wedding gowns might have been trending on Pinterest for years, but there is one colour most brides are reluctant to go anywhere near—black. But in Marchesa's 2018 bridal collection, traditional white gowns were punctuated with black ribbons, earrings and heels and lace socks. Just the right amount of rule-breaking for this trend to really take off.

2. Bows, bows and more bows

Bows have been all over our Instagram feeds recently, so it's no surprise that this has also made its way into bridalwear. Throughout 2018 Bridal Fashion Week, this was a detail that kept coming up again and again—Oscar de la Renta's sash tied into an XXL bow across the back is destined for Pinterest fame.

3. Colourful embroidery

Pink or purple wedding gowns are often reserved for those looking to make a real Gwen Stefani–esque impact. However, Naeem Khan created the most beautiful gown for those wanting something other than ivory. The traditional, sleeved tulle gown is covered with beautiful lilac and buttercup floral embroidery.

4. Bridal denim

Don't worry—we're not about to suggest you wear a denim wedding dress, but at Oscar de la Renta, a model wore a white denim jacket over her shoulders, and it was the perfect partner to her '50s tulle gown. This is one for the nontraditional brides.

5. Statement Earrings

Big statement earrings have been the most significant accessory trend this year, and in 2018, this will reach bridalwear too, rivaling statement veils. Our favourite pair we spotted at Bridal Fashion Week was the ivory giant chandelier earrings at Sachin & Babi—the model didn't wear a veil but had a delicate sheer voile wrapped around her shoulders, making sure all eyes are on the earrings.
