7 Bikini Trends You'll See on Every Beach This Summer

The bikini trends that typically gain the most traction on Instagram aren't often an indication of what you'll actually see at the beach. If neon thongs and V-front bikini bottoms aren't for you, we've rounded up the swimwear trends that are likely to translate into the most sales this summer.

When it comes to patterned bikinis, retro florals and animal prints are already proving the most popular. However, if you prefer something a little more neutral, classic silhouettes and muted colours are a poolside winner. High-waisted bikinis and crinkle fabrics are staying firmly put for another year, as these are now considered two of the most flattering swimwear options by many women.

But if you want your bikini to be more of a conversation starter, we recommend you head straight to the fluoro two-pieces. Keep scrolling to shop our edit of the seven bikini trends that you'll see on every beach this summer.

1. Crinkle Bikinis

Thanks to the revival of brand Hunza G, this crinkle stretchy fabric is proving one of the most prominent bikini trends this year.

2. Animal Print

Snake, tiger, leopard or zebra, animal-print bikinis come in every colour you could possibly hope for this summer. Leopard-print swimwear has been particularly popular with the French fashion crowd.

3. Simple Classic Bikinis

Swimwear designer Matteau has ushered in a desire for more simple silhouettes, with square-top bikinis and briefs in several classic cuts becoming its forte. On the high street, Arket is also one of our favourites for this style of swimwear.

4. Vintage Prints

Cute vintage prints that you might have worn when you were an 8-year-old are making their way into your swimwear drawer once again, thanks to bikinis with ruffles and nostalgic colours.

5. Neutral Tones

This summer's trending colour palette—50 shades of beige—is also dominating swimwear trends too. Hunza G and Matteau are two designers that particularly love working with off-whites, caramel and biscuit colours.

6. High-Waisted Bikinis

High-waisted bikinis are hardly a new trend, we know, but this is a silhouette which is still going leading the way this year. We are strong believers in finding a shape that works for you and sticking to it (so don't think high-waisted bikinis will ever lose popularity). The below & Other Stories bikini with buttons on the bottoms is high on our wish lists.

7. Fluoro Bikinis

Neon swimwear might sound really extreme, but it's actually more approachable than you might think. Warehouse's fluoro-pink ribbed bikini is one of our favourites on the high street right now.
