We’ve long established that just because something isn’t designer doesn’t mean it can’t look expensive. While we often talk about materials and colours looking rich, it’s rare that we talk about a shape or a silhouette of a garment looking pricier than it really is. But there’s something about tie-neck and pussy-bow blouses that just makes me immediately think they’re expensive, even when they aren’t. I think it’s that these blouses often come in satin or chiffon and when combined with more muted creams or dark hues such as black or maroon, they look even more elegant.
Right now, the high street is stocking them everywhere. I first spotted a bold pink satin version on & Other Stories, and then a few on Zara as well as ones at Mango and Topshop. The beauty about these is that not only would they look incredible with black trousers and a pair of heels for a fancy event (I’d even suggest it works for a wedding), but they’d also look great dressed down with jeans and sneakers too.
