I Have a Theory That Right Now Is The Best Time to Buy a Bikini

While we fully acknowledge that some parts of the UK are always on the chills side (looking at you, Scotland), it's hard to ignore the springtime euphoria that's taken over as soon as the first hint of sun arrived. Everywhere you look, there are brilliant colours, prints and silhouettes to be had, all of which give us hope that summer is, at least, on the horizon—even if we're not quite ready to buy into it all just yet.

However, there's one item we would recommend snapping up early, and that's swimwear. As holidays are no longer reserved for summertime, swimwear is now seen as a year-round staple, which is also why we see so many great bikini and swimming costume styles emerge at the start of the year. And 2019 is no exception.

We've already spied tonnes of gorgeous swimwear online, so we've whittled down the best swimwear 2019 has to offer into five trend categories. So, whether you're jetting off in spring or you're simply stockpiling your summer wares, keep scrolling to shop the hottest swimwear before it inevitably sells out.

RAINBOW

Rainbow-stripe jumpers dominated the winter season, and for summer the motif is sticking around in cossie form. & Other Stories' has already had to restock its one-piece—don't let it pass you by again.

'80S ONE-SHOULDER

Fashion's obsession with the '80s can certainly be seen in 2019's biggest trends, and swimwear is no exception. Instead of high-cut bottoms, use minimal one-strap bikinis and swimming costumes to give your poolside attire a Dynasty vibe.

TIE DETAILS

Be it on shoulders, the bust or the bottoms, tie details look feminine and give any swimsuit or bikini a pin-up feel. Because who doesn't want to feel like a pin-up on the beach?

POLKA DOT

If you're already a firm fan of polka dots, you'll definitely want to add a printed bikini to your collection. Keep the motif monochrome and look for ruffles or contrasting panels.
