It’s very easy to get stuck in a routine when it comes to getting dressed, splitting your wardrobe between items you deem office-appropriate and those that are relegated to after-hours or weekend-only status.
Though with an ever-increasing consciousness around clothing waste and cost per wear, I’ve become more determined to transition my favourite pieces across the entire spectrum of my wardrobe, re-wearing items as often as I can and living by the phrase, “It’s chic to repeat.”
One wardrobe staple I’m finding particularly versatile this winter is the slip dress. Once considered a dressy item reserved for warm-weather occasions like summer weddings or holidays in the Amalfi coast, in recent times, I've found myself wearing a slip dress to work almost every day. Easily layered underneath blazers, roll-necks and cashmere jumpers, slip dresses have become the simple base layer I rely on for seamless weekday mornings.
And on really cold days, when I know my bare legs will freeze but I don’t want to wear tights, I layer a tight midi-length knit dress under my slip dress to keep the lower half of my body warm before adding a T-shirt, jumper and coat on top. It’s a total game-changer, believe me.
