If You Want to Get Ready in 5 Minutes, This Is the Dress You Need

Look, I know we're only getting into the good weather, but I need you to know that shirt dresses are here to save you this summer. For starters though, let's address the fact that this item is considered to be a bit, well, boring. The reasoning? I'd wager it's something to do with it being a bit corporate. If that's been your stance, then allow me to change your mind. The shirt dress is actually the answer to all your getting-ready-in-the-morning dilemmas. It is the kind of item that you can wear whether you're actually going into an office or going out to meet friends (because we can actually do that now).

The newest iterations of this item come from everywhere, and it's not surprising considering Google Trends tells me interest in this item has been growing since the beginning of last month. Watch out for minimalist versions from Jil Sander, Wales Bonner and H&M, but make sure you don't miss Ganni's oversize collar-shirt dresses because you know they'll sell out quick. My favourite, however, is a short shirt dress from COS in a tangerine that will be great with a sassy pair of strappy heels as well as layered over a pair of jeans or floaty trousers. Keep scrolling for my edit of the best shirt dresses right now.

Very Gwyneth Paltrow in the '90s.

Affordable but looks expensive.

Layer over trousers or wear by itself.

Don't you just love this colour?

Another one to wear as an oversize shirt or as a dress.

The tiered bottom gives this shirt dress a twist.

Ruching on a shirt dress? Go on, then.

This has an '80s vibe, but we're into it.

Trust Nanushka to come up with the coolest of the designer shirt dresses we've seen so far this season.

Belt this one or leave it hanging open.

The side tie gives this a great edge.

Denim is always a good choice.

Next up, these are the biggest autumn/winter 2021 fashion trends to know.
