The One Jacket Style I've Worn More Than Any Other This Year

I don't know about you, but if, like me, you've been working from home over the last six months, you may have unwittingly developed your very own lockdown capsule, (i.e., a rotation of staples that you've instinctively reached for day in and day out). For many of us, this will invariably include a few more elasticated waistbands and slippers than our normal wardrobe capsules, as comfort and practicality have, naturally, moved to the top of our priority list.

Personally, the shacket is one of the items that I have worn the most over the course of 2020. I have a leopard print style from Ganni and a long-line shacket from Sézane, and together they have been thrown on most days, with everything from tracksuit bottoms and jeans to midi dresses and skirts. For summer, they're the ideal top layer, and in winter they're light enough to be layered under a coat. If the last six months have shown anything, it's that I really couldn't live without one in my wardrobe.

Last year's thick wool iterations are sticking around for the new season, and are a great option if you're wanting more warmth from your shacket. & Other Stories' cult wool jacket has returned in a variety of chic shades, and we have it under good authority that they look even better IRL. There are also plenty of lighter varieties—my favourite being '70s-inspired belted denim styles, which look so good with colour-clashing jeans. Whatever your preference, there'll be a shacket for you. Scroll down to shop my edit.
