8 Brands That Are Making Going-Out Outfits Cool Again

This week, it's like someone has pressed a button to unleash the sequins, as new-in sections have gone all-out disco, with more feathers, glitter and lamé than Elton John and Naomi Campbell's wardrobes combined. There are certain brands that really come into their own come November, and manage to always put a fresh spin on going-out outfits, thinking of innovative ways to make us play dress up. For winter 2019, party dressing is more high octane than ever, with '80s iridescent minidresses that will turn you into a human Quality Street and chainmail dresses that are designed to garner maximum impact.

There are certain designer brands that are really setting the agenda this party season—I can't write the word party without starting with Paco Rabanne. Creative Director Julien Dossena has slowly been repositioning Paco Rabanne as one of the most in-demand fashion brands. The chainmail handbags and sequin dresses are incredible works of craftsmanship, earning them a fierce following with fashion insiders (Sienna Miller is one of many who has slipped into the metal party dresses).

London has long been home to the party, and so it's not surprising that the capital is fostering some amazing partywear labels. Vintage-inspired dress label Rixo has become a Great British success story, and its latest collection has a real Studio54 feel about it, with bauble prints and striped sequins. London-based brand 16Arlington is also doing amazing things with feathers and sequins, while the Vampire's Wife has a grown-up spin on partywear, giving prairie dresses a glamorous makeover with rich festive colours and velvets.
