Whilst October saw us snapping up expensive-looking jumpers and November had us buying that all-important winter coat, come December, it's time to invest in a party dress. Oh, but this year's should save you some cash, as many of the best ones are from the high street. With a brimming social calendar and countless festive parties to attend, the perfect minidress is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
The early party season started with a very 1980s-shaped bang: Puff-sleeved minis suddenly hit the scene again and have been available everywhere from Saint Laurent to Topshop. Not to mention that the girls leading this look (Jeanette Madsen and Thora Valdimars, pictured above) have brought out their own label, Rotate, which is chock-full of chic dresses.
This year, we're rather taken with a number by cool-girl brand De La Vali (a favourite of Camille Charrière and Pandora Sykes). Also, this year's favourite animal print is popping up on a number of cool minidresses (Réalisation and Ganni offer two great options).
Perhaps it will come as no surprise then that two of Zara's most "look at me" minidresses are selling like crazy. In fact, one beaded style sold almost 700 units in a matter of hours whilst there's a black ruffled asymmetric style that is also going fast.
