For a while now, we’ve been witness to Spanish heritage brand Loewe’s growing influence in the fashion world. Since Brit Jonathan Anderson’s appointment as creative director in 2013, the whole line has become more and more covetable—but especially the bags (oh, the bags!). He’s been credited for the revival of this luxury brand, which was originally founded in 1846 (yes, you read that right) and has been favoured by the likes of Sophia Loren and Marlene Dietrich over the years. Iconic, right? But it’s Anderson’s modern twists on classics that we’ve come to love. After all, his raffia logo totes are basically responsible for the basket bag phenomenon that has been all over Instagram the past few summers.
Now that autumn has hit, though, it’s the understated elegance of Loewe’s buttery leather styles that have proven a runaway hit with the fashion crowd. These are grown-up bags—bags that say “I’m in the know.” They don’t shout like Gucci, and they aren’t as recognisable as Chloé, but they will last forever. The only hard bit about the decision to invest in a Loewe bag is choosing one. Keep scrolling for our guide to the best styles available now and who’s wearing them. Just don’t blame us when that credit card bill comes next month…
1. The Puzzle
The Puzzle bag is quickly becoming the Loewe version of a Chanel 2.55—a timeless classic. You can see as you keep scrolling, its still a firm favourite for the street style set since its inception in 2015. The iconic shape is updated every season in new dreamy colour combinations, plus it’s probably the most perfect sized handbag to ever exist.
Obviously we love everything Lucy Williams owns, but this bag tops the list.
Camille wore her Puzzle to the S/S 20 Loewe show last month.
2. The Cushion Tote
This is Monikh’s new favourite, and we all know she has great taste. Perfectly sized to fit all your worldly belongings (e.g., a laptop, makeup bag, reusable water bottle and snacks). We’ve seen a lot of people using this as their carry-on recently, which makes sense. I’ll let you in on a secret: I just invested in this canvas style, but new, autumn weather-appropriate leather designs have just been released.
3. The Lazo
The Lazo is brand-new and the most understated of Loewe bags. No shouty logo and minimal design, it’s the quality of the super-soft leather that makes this style stand out. This is Loewe’s hero shape for autumn/winter, so get ahead of the curve and buy it now.
Lucy’s burgundy style is autumnal perfection.

4. The Postal
This is Loewe’s latest bag shape, and influencers wasted no time snapping it up and posting it all over Instagram. We’d say this is simple but effective. It’s another understated style for those who have someone else around to carry all their stuff for them. According to the brand itself, this one’s “set to join the ranks as one of the house’s iconic bag designs.”
We love the sage-green mini style Erika Boldrin wore at Paris Fashion Week. To be fair, we love everything green at the moment.
5. The Gate
This is another instantly recognisable Loewe design. The endless amount of colour and size options available are incredibly dangerous to our bank balances, as we just keep adding new styles to our wish list with every release. The current favourite? This khaki green shade seen at Paris Fashion Week (told you we were into green!) and the new top-handle shape.
6. The Hammock
The Hammock style has proved ever popular due to the fact that you can wear it multiple ways—on the shoulder, handheld and crossbody. So that’s basically three bags in one, right? Its changing shape makes this really versatile, especially if you want to invest in one bag to rule them all.
Tiffany Hsu's tan mini Hammock bag is outfit-finishing goals.
