When thinking about fall fashion, what first comes to mind for you? Are you dreaming of all the trends you're going to try? Or finding the perfect pair of boots? For me, the first thing that always comes to mind is outwear—'tis the season, after all. Cooler temperatures allow us to finally break out the blazers, trench coats, or even the winter coats. It's an exciting time (especially if you love layering) because you can finally focus on finding that perfect jacket for fall. What that means is purely up to your personal preferences, but based on my premonitions, I'm guessing there's one style that will stand out this fall for many people: leather jackets.

While leather always makes a comeback each fall (it is timeless), this season's runway collections took this textile into even edgier territory. Leather jackets were everywhere, from Miu Miu to Lanvin to Alexander McQueen to Isabel Marant, regardless of the brand's aesthetic. However, it's not just the runway that's brought leather jackets back into the conversation; it's shown up in our social feeds and at our favorite retailers, further legitimizing this outwear as a must-have for fall. But if you have yet to be sold, you'll want to keep reading as I've broken down the five best leather jacket styles to shop right now. From bomber jackets to biker jackets, there's surely a leather outerwear style that you won't be able to stop thinking about (or wearing).

1. Leather Moto Jackets

One version of leather outerwear that I'm betting will take over this fall is the moto jacket. From fall collections featuring motocross elements to the fashion set's subtle embrace of biker jackets, it's clear that this style will speedily become the must-have staple of the season.

2. Leather Bomber Jackets

Ever since last spring, there's been another leather jacket trend bubbling up: bomber jackets. First spotted in Prada's S/S 22 collection, this jacket style has since permeated the runways and the streets.

3. Long Leather Coats

Long leather coats may have first appeared as a trend to watch last fall, but they're still just as fresh for this season. With designers continuing to champion heavy leather pieces and maxi-length coats in their collections this F/W 23, there's no more ideal outwear to invest in than this piece.

4. Leather Blazers

Ah, leather blazers. This outwear style may not be as trendy as the bomber and biker iterations spotted on the F/W 23 runways, but don't be fooled. It's just as cool. This leather jacket style continues to be a beloved fall staple among the fashion set because of its magical ability to make the most mundane everyday piece feel special. Whether it's a pair of trousers, dresses, tanks, or jeans, any piece is suddenly way cooler when styled with a leather blazer.

5. Leather Jackets With Furry Accents

Cooler weather is just around the corner, and while every leather jacket style featured in this story thus far is ideal for temperature drops, one style reigns supreme in my find: leather jackets with furry accents. It should be noted that leather jackets adorned in shearling, shag, and faux fur are in no way a new trend, but fall runways ran with it anyway. From A.W.A.K.E Mode to Chloé, there was an endless array of leather coats with fuzzy foldover collars, shearling lining, and general pops of shag, making it clear that this style is back and bigger than ever for fall. Whether or not you choose to wear it is your prerogative, but with so many different types of leather jackets trending, it's safe to say there's a way to wear this trend in a way that's true to your personal style.
