So Long, High Heels—This Season I'm Wearing These Boots With Every Outfit

After a couple of years of quashed party plans, this year, it’s looking pretty probable that the festive season will prevail undisrupted. The party dresses that have sat in our wardrobes gathering dust for the past few years are finally set to live out their destiny, but the shoes that I was once eager to pair them with now feel entirely too high and chunky for my current taste and comfort needs.

Ushered in by the winning combination of the ‘00s resurgence, the quiet-luxury trend and a growing preference for flat shoes over heels, kitten-heel boots have regained their cult status as the sleek, in-the-know boots to set you apart this season.

Available from almost all of our favourite brands and retailers, kitten-heel boots can be snapped up in both ankle boots and knee-high styles for different looks. Styling well with a sweeping maxi or decorated mini, knee-high kitten-heel boots can add the finishing touch to an evening-ready outfit that won't have you desperate to change your shoes part way through the event. If, however, you're more interested in shaking up your daily wardrobe, an ankle-height kitten heel will work effortlessly with jeans and trousers for a little boost of height and a big helping of style.

Whilst designer brands such as Khaite have me desperate to hit the checkout button, high-street favourites such as ARKET and COS have constructed sleek and polished versions in real leather that will easily slot into any capsule wardrobe for a long time to come.
