From Rosie to Alexa, We Want to Copy These Celeb Outfits This Autumn

Nobody is immune to the sartorial mental shift of the start of autumn. After a summer of destination holidays and relaxation, September brings that back-to-school state of mind to us all. And yes, this includes celebrities. As film festivals stack up, films are in need of press tours, and fashion month (and all the parties that follow) amps up the glam of it all, we begin to see the celebrities we love out and about more often. And more celebrity sightings comes some fabulous, brand new outfit ideas.

This September was no exception; it gave us a lot from the celebrity fashion world. For starters, Katie Holmes emerged as a bonafide style icon again after a photo of her in a cardi and matching bra went viral. Rosie Huntington-Whitely continued to flaunt her love for all things Bottega Veneta. Even the Emmy's this week brought us some red carpet looks (Laverne! Phoebe! Zendaya!) to get us counting down the days until awards season. But best of all, it gave us some incredibly easy-to-copy outfit ideas to try now that the weather has truly gone from unseasonably warm to jumpers-on-the-reg.

Keep scrolling to see and shop the ten celebrity outfits we're ready to copy right now.

Style Notes: There were so many Katie Holmes outfits that we fell in love with this month that she became an overnight style icon. This outfit is the one we're most keen to try now, as it feels like an evolution of the pleated skirt obsession we've had for a while.

SARAH PAULSON

Style Notes: American Horror Story's Sarah Paulson is so versatile on-screen, but her style is consistent: she's always a win. This Miu Miu horse-print dress from the Resort 2020 collection is a dream, but it's the simple addition of the padded headband (which you can find on Etsy) that makes the whole look.

JASMINE HEMSLEY

Style Notes: The minute we saw this silk Roksanda dress on Jasmine Hemsley, we knew we had to copy the look. As a sustainable fashion advocate, she actually rented her dress from HURR Collective.

ALEXA CHUNG

Style Notes: This Alexa Chung jumper, still not available to buy, became an instant cult piece (like most things she's ever worn) when she wore it to London Fashion Week with a black pleated skirt.

ROSIE HUNTINGTON-WHITELY

Style Notes: We'd definitely add a blazer now that the weather has turned, but this look (nude tank, denim skirt, strappy heels and a clutch bag) works as a base for an excellent autumn outfit. It also made us seriously reconsider the chic capabilities of a denim midi.

CAITRIONA BALFE

Style Notes: Outlander's Caitriona Balfe's minimalist look is ideal for autumn. The warm tones and leather pieces with a ribbed v-neck polo knit is a brilliant outfit idea to try now.

TRACEE ELLIS ROSS

Style Notes: We're in love with Tracee Ellis Ross for many reasons, but her self-claimed shopping habit is definitely one of them. We wide-leg trousers, Bowie tee, and blazer combo is simply so cool.

Style Notes: Cobie Smulders, who shares stylist Erin Walsh with SJP, recently paired a printed puff-sleeve dress with beige knee-high boots and quite frankly, we're obsessed. This is look is so simple, yet so perfect. It's an outfit formula that will work for the entire cold-weather period.
