These Fashion Editor–Approved Boots Will Be Big News This Autumn

Saddle up your horse, throw on a plaid shirt and ready your Woody puns, because the Wild West has made a storming return this autumn and it shows no sign of slowing down. From fringed jackets and high-waisted denim to yolked shirts and saddlebags, the cowboy uniform has cemented itself as an accepted part of the fashion editor's wardrobe. Our favourite item, however, has to be cowboy boots.

Making its presence felt in street style snaps last year, this boot style is no longer a novelty in the winter shoe lineup and rather a reliable staple that is challenging classic knee-highs for the top spot. If the idea of an elaborate cutout detailing or snake print is enough to make you run for the hills, then rest reassured that 2019's offering is seriously eclectic. There are plenty of subtle, block-coloured iterations that only have the merest hint of Western styling (think a Cuban heel or pointed toe).

Cowboy boots are sure to work hard in your wardrobe now and right into the cooler months—whether it's with a voluminous smock dress or a pair of high-waisted flared jeans (its great for adding a few inches). Mock croc is also set to be a winner for autumn, so make sure you check out the likes of Ganni and Zara for a fresh spin on the Western style. Style Notes: A pair of pointed cowboy boots worn with high-waisted flares will make your legs look super long.

Style Notes: This showgoer opts for a more classic cowboy boot in brown suede, which she styles with an autumn-ready khaki shirt dress.

Style Notes: If you want to add a little personality to your look, opt for a print mash-up pair à la Ada. They're just what her classic denim skirt and blazer pairing needs.

Style Notes: If in doubt, go full-on cowgirl (let Bettina show you how). A white lace minidress, denim jacket and patent boots never looked so good.
