Everyone on My Instagram Feed Is Buying Dresses From COS, and I Can See Why

When your job is to find emerging trends and show your fellow fashion enthusiasts the must-haves each brand has to offer at that particular moment, you'd assume I'd be an open-minded shopper. This is true to an extent, as very rarely will I disregard wearing a trend before trying it for myself. Admittedly, however, I tend to shop in certain stores for certain things. Take Topshop: As soon as I cross its threshold (IRL or online), I know I'll come away with one of two things: shoes or a pair of jeans. Similarly, Zara is my one-stop-shop for bags and skirts, while Mango serves as my go-to for blazers. Hair accessories? Anthropologie. Lingerie? Marks and Spencer. Wardrobe staples? COS. And so on.

The downside is that I'll enter a store with blinders on, seeking out the pieces I usually buy instead of taking in what else is on offer. But I've recently learned the error of my ways… I'm a dress girl through and through, and lately, all of the frocks I've been admiring on influencers from afar are from one place: COS. Previously, I'd have never considered COS a dress destination (my purchases usually involve Breton stripes and jersey), but after discovering these styles, I know I'm going to be hooked on its frocks from here on out. Brittany Bathgate, Karina Marriott and Alexis Foreman are just some of the stylish women who have been wearing COS dresses religiously this season.

Style Notes: In true COS fashion, Margarita keeps her outfit effortlessly pared-back with basic accessories in a monochromatic colour palette, allowing her belted-waist dress to take centre stage.

Style Notes: This dress sold out within a matter of weeks in the black colour way. Thankfully, Antonia's purple printed iteration is still available to buy.

Style Notes: A minimalist's dream dress, the front vent pleat makes for a volumised skirt, while the T-shirt–style sleeves give this midi a casual spin. Just add asymmetric strap heels like Anna for a chic after-dark take.

Style Notes: Alexis is a loyal COS customer who always gets her hands on the most in-demand pieces before anyone else. True to form, she snapped up this cobalt frock before it inevitably sold out, but we'll gladly take this collarless iteration in its place.

Style Notes: Karina has a knack for unearthing the best high-street dresses, so naturally, this mint shirtdress has made its way into her wardrobe also. Wear with Velcro-strap sandals for a look that's so 2019.

Style Notes: Minimalist style doesn't mean you can't embrace bold colours, as evidenced by this lemon-hued COS dress. Make like summer and clash it with a bright bag and trusty trainers.

Style Notes: No COS edit would be complete without a look from Brittany. Most of her wares come from the high-street store, including this oversized cotton frock.

Style Notes: If you prefer tailored silhouettes, try layering a simple leather belt over COS's slinkier dresses, just like Jessica.
