Any item of clothing that can be worn all year round always gets a big thumbs-up from us. After all, one of our New Year's resolutions was to only buy items that we know we'll get plenty of wear out of. Our latest addition to the versatile-wardrobe-staples list? The collared jumper. Typically coming in a light wool fabric, this is the perfect piece to throw over a T-shirt on a cool summer's evening, but it will also serve as an ideal layering device for autumn.
My obsession with the collared knit was reignited when I spotted Shrimps' adorable crystal-button statement-collar cardigan on Matches, and it instantly sparked a search for alternatives, both on the high street and second-hand. There is plenty to choose from, whether you're wanting a preppier sweater, cosy cardigan, crocheted number or something with shorter sleeves.
We'll be wearing ours now tucked into straight-leg jeans and accessorised with a chunky chain necklace. Then come autumn, we'll be adding it to leather trousers with a blazer thrown over the top.
