These Are the Clean Beauty Brands That Celebs Swear By for Glowing Skin

If we had to pick out what we believe to be the biggest beauty movement of the last couple of years, there’s no doubt that we’d settle on clean beauty. More so than ever, we all want to know exactly what it is we’re slathering on our faces. From preservatives like parabens to drying foaming agents like sulphates, as consumers we are increasingly starting to question the purpose (and side effects) of certain ingredients in our skincare and makeup.

It’s therefore no surprise that the clean beauty movement has really started to take off. People are starting to switch on to the fact that actually, some of the ingredients in our products might not be necessary. And, while over here in the UK we adhere to strict EU safety laws (at least for now), elsewhere in the world, the levels of potentially skin-damaging ingredients aren’t so heavily regulated. It makes sense then that, while clean beauty is a movement that continues to trickle into the mainstream on UK shores, across the pond it’s a much bigger deal. In fact, the A-list are such strong believers in keeping their beauty products ‘clean’, that their routines are almost exclusively feature natural and organic brands

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is a big fan of clean beauty brands.

While the verdict is still most definitely out on some of the claims surrounding clean beauty, there’s no doubt that many brands that identify as clean offer some truly impressive products. So, before you write the idea off completely, believe us when we say you can get seriously impressive results. Keep scrolling for the clean beauty brands that some of Hollywood’s finest complexions swear by for glowing, radiant skin.

1. Burt’s Bees

This one might surprise you, but the super-affordable natural brand Burt’s Bees is actually a celebrity favourite. Unlike so many other brands that champion naturally-derived, organic ingredients, Burt’s Bees doesn’t charge a huge premium. Clearly stating that it would never use parabens, phthalates, petroleum, sodium lauryl sulphate or any synthetic ingredients and stabilisers, Burt’s Bees proves that it is possible to produce affordable and effective skincare without opting for cheaper, ‘unclean’ ingredients.

Celebrities such as Blake Lively and Selena Gomez have been known to turn to Burt’s Bees products. While Lively once showed off her Replenishing Lip Balm on Instagram, Gomez has been known to turn to the brand’s skincare offering before red carpet events.

2. Tata Harper

This natural skincare brand is no stranger to a celeb or two. In fact, we’d go as far to say that it’s one of Hollywood’s most-turned-to skincare brands. Without a single synthetic chemical in its offering, the majority of the ingredients used are actually grown on Tata’s farm in Vermont. Most importantly though, Tata Harper skincare is commonly regarded as some of the best around by both beauty editors and celebrities alike. While Rosie Huntington-Whiteley swears by the hydrating face mist, Jourdan Dunn has previously declared her love for the purifying cleanser.

3. MV Skintherapy

It’s likely that you may not have heard of this particular brand before. Smaller and more niche than some others on the list, MV Skintherapy—previously known as MV Organic Skincare—might not be the most-shouted-about of brands, but within the industry it’s seriously highly regarded. The small Australian brand is adored by the likes of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Emma Watson and Poppy Delevingne. In fact, while Delevingne says she loves using the Rose Mist, Emma Watson once revealed that she loves (and regularly uses) some of the other rose products including the moisturiser and booster. For nourished skin that glows and glows, MV Skintherapy is a winner.

4. Weleda

Chances are you already know about this one. Famed for its cult moisturiser, Skin Food, Weleda actually produces an array of all-natural, organic beauty products. However, it is Skin Food that so many celebrities hold responsible for their luminous glow. Most notably, Victoria Beckham has revealed that she uses Skin Food to help prolong a tan while Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has also shown off a well-loved tube on her Instagram. Formulated with chamomile and calendula, the soothing moisturiser gives skin next-level hydration and an almost unbelievable dewy radiance.

5. RMS Beauty

Whereas so many of these brands sit in the skincare category, RMS Beauty is one of the rare natural brands that champions makeup when it comes to the concept of no-nasties ingredient lists. RMS Beauty makeup products are formulated with raw and natural ingredients, as close to their original state as possible. Clean beauty crusaders such as Miranda Kerr swear by the cult concealer (it’s unrivalled when it comes to natural-looking under-eye cover up) and Gisele Bündchen has also been known to rely on the universally-adored highlight for red carpet radiance. If you ask us, RMS Beauty is a brand to add to your radar if you love a no-fuss, no-makeup-makeup look.

6. Dr. Hauschka

OK, we get it, Dr. Hauschka might not produce the prettiest beauty products in the business, but we urge you not to judge this book by its cover. Offering products formulated predominantly manually with organic medicinal plants, we would say that a huge number of our favourite beauty products have come courtesy of Dr. Hauschka, and we’re not alone. In fact, Julia Roberts is often cited as a big Dr. Hauschka fan after she revealed that Rose Day Cream is one of her beauty essentials. Plus (and brace yourselves for this one), Jennifer Aniston herself has often referred to the Lip Balm as being her absolute favourite.

7. Pai

This small British brand has really hit the big time recently. With so many people with sensitive skin trying to steer clear of natural skincare brands that formulate with potentially-irritating essential oils, Pai products are specifically formulated with sensitive skin in mind. Renowned for delivering gentle and natural products that boost glow, it has also become a favourite among the A-list, including Natalie Portman and Lea Seydoux.

8. Vintner’s Daughter

Last but by no means not least, it’s likely you may have come across this brand while scrolling through your Instagram feed. After two years of trying to develop the perfect skin hero that didn’t rely on potentially harmful filler ingredients, Vintner’s Daughter came up with the Active Botanical Serum. With extremely potent botanical blends, the face oil is heralded as one of the best ever made and has garnered a cult following of beauty editors, makeup artists, skin experts and celebrities (Tracee Ellis Ross and Gwyneth Paltrow have both declared their love for it). More recently, the brand also released a hydrating essence. It’s ludicrously expensive, but for one product that really does do it all (plump, smooth, soothe, illuminate, strengthen), it can’t be faulted.

Next up, it's 2021 and these 10 female-founded beauty brands are thriving.
