Not That Kind of Bride? Here's Our Edit of the Most Alternative Wedding Dresses

If Meghan Markle's wedding dress was anything to go by, we've been rapidly ushered into the age of the minimalist, low-key bride. No one expected quite how simple her dress would be. The boundary-pushing royal bride's gown included no lace and no sparkle—just a simple boatneck and long sleeves. Her defiance of royal traditions exemplifies the shift in millennial attitudes, wherein instead of opting for big white weddings, we're choosing something more in line with our own personal style.

When Olivia Palermo married Johannes Huebl in a park in Brooklyn, for example, she wore a cream cashmere sweater and a skirt from Carolina Herrera—and the internet and style pages subsequently went into meltdown. Emily Ratajkowski wed in a mustard suit from Zara a few weeks ago. Of the two brides I know getting married this summer, one is getting married in a crop-top two-piece, and the other is getting married in pink. Another friend recently married at the registry office in a white Bella Freud suit; her husband, meanwhile, wore sneakers.
