Get the Look/Michelle Pfeiffer

Michelle Pfeiffer gave us a bit of a thrill when she appeared this week at the Los Angeles premiere of her latest film, Hairspray. The reason for our elation was simple. Her signature luminous beauty was turned up (all the way to 11) that night and her entirely flawless look commanded attention. We leapt to our phone and tracked down Pfeiffer's long-time makeup artist, Brigitte Reiss-Andersen, for a chat about the secrets to this stunning look.

"The dress Michelle chose was sexy in a very proper way, so we thought that we could push the makeup a little bit," Reiss-Andersen says. "Since she looked a bit like a Hitchcock heroine, the smoky eye was a great contrast."

Reiss-Andersen first prepped Pfeiffer's face with Chanel's Precision Activateur Eclat Engergizing Radiance Lotion, which acts as a primer. She then moistened beautyblender's Sponge Applicator and used it to thinly apply Shu Uemura Pro Concealer in Medium/Light and Giorgio Armani Matte Silk Foundation in 5 (Warm Beige). "She doesn't need foundation, but it's nice to have some on for the cameras," Reiss-Andersen says. "The Armani foundation is one of my favourite products because it's so sheer and the colours are absolute perfection."

Pfeiffer's cheeks were given a warm glow with Giorgio Armani Sheer Cream Blush in 7, which Reiss-Andersen dotted onto her cheekbones and blended. Her t-zone was lightly dusted with M.A.C.'s Select Sheer/Loose Powder to keep this area from shining on the red carpet.

To create the softly smoky eye, Reiss-Andersen lined Pfeiffer's upper lids with M.A.C.'s Technikohl pencil in Brownborder and softened this line by smudging with a brush. She then used M.A.C. Eye Shadows in Espresso on the lid and Carbon to accentuate the lash line. She followed this by curling Pfeiffer's lashes and applied two coats of Almay One Coat Nourishing Mascara Thickening in Black, letting the first one dry before moving on to the second coat.

Eyebrows were slightly accentuated with a light taupe pencil (M.A.C.'s Eye Brow Pencil in Fling) and Reiss-Andersen finished the eye with a final, tiny amount of Longcils Boncza black liquid liner along the upper lash line. Finally, Reiss-Andersen applied Giorgio Armani's Shine Lipstick in 5 with a brush to complete Pfeiffer's look.
