We Need to Talk About THOSE Balenciaga Crocs

It's been a year since Christopher Kane showcased his footwear collab with Crocs, sending a bejewelled pair down the catwalk for his S/S 17 collection, but now another designer has decided that Crocs are a high-fashion item. This time, Balenciaga's Demna Gvasalia decided to give the "ugly" shoes an overhaul, which debuted during his Paris Fashion Week show yesterday.

Instead of prettifying the shoes with gems à la Kane, Gvasalia opted to make the controversial shoes stacked. The platform Crocs were adorned with bright stickers and came in a variety of colours including canary yellow, taupe, and black. Considering that Gvasalia's collections for the fashion house have influenced nearly everyone in industry right now, including tonnes of high-street copies (Hint: There's a reason puffer jackets and sock boots are everywhere), are these shoes about to become as ubiquitous? Keep scrolling to see the Crocs on the catwalk.

Style Notes: Perhaps the most standout of colours in the most controversial shoes. We like the matching dress but are still not totally convinced we'll be wearing them.

Style Notes: Speaking to Vogue, Gvasalia revealed that he decided to work with the shoes because of how "innovative" they are: "It's a very innovative shoe. It's light, it's a one-piece foam mould and to me, these kinds of techniques and working with these kinds of materials is very Balenciaga."

Style Notes: The all-black versions actually seem a bit more reasonable. Or is it still a hard pass?
