Is it just us, or did summer seem to end as if it were at the receiving end of a switch on 1 September? Temperatures immediately got colder, the days instantaneously shortened, and we came to the realisation that the wafty dresses and sandals we've been living in for the last few months will no longer do. So we did what 95% of the population did: We started scouring various online new-in sections to outfit ourselves with autumn-appropriate clothing. It was during this shopping frenzy that we realised just how strong the high street is looking right now—particularly H&M, Mango and Arket.
While the new season has indeed arrived at all three brands, each one has taken a very different approach to autumn/winter 2019. Arket, in contrast to its muted summertime palette, has embraced brighter hues with knitwear, skirting and dresses evident in shades of tangerine, sage and pink.
Conversely, H&M has instead taken the minimalist approach (save for a faux-pearl headband) with leather separates, cropped cardigans and utility jumpsuits. And finally, Mango seems to have been won over by 2019's Western homage and has rustled up its own take with ruffled blouses, yoke-neckline dresses and perhaps the coolest pair of cowboy boots we've seen thus far.
So impressed are we by these three stores that we decided to share with you our wish lists. Keep scrolling to see the pieces from H&M, Mango and Arket that can't be missed…
