The Activewear Trend Anna Wintour Calls "Ugly"

Alert: Anna Wintour is on Snapchat—well, kind of. Today Vogue announced that it has nabbed a spot on Snapchat's Discover page, and the magazine tapped none other than editor in chief Anna Wintour for its debut video. In the clip, Wintour—who you may already know is a huge tennis fan—dished out her tips for surviving the U.S. Open, and in the process revealed her thoughts on one activewear trend in particular.

"Don't forget to wear your sunglasses, especially if the male players insist on wearing those ugly fluorescent colors," Wintour said in the Snapchat video. So there you have it: If you want to work out in Wintour-approved garb, you might want to skip fluorescent-colored pieces. Even though bright hues have been plastered on everything from leggings and sports bras to T-shirts and hoodies, this is one activewear trend that does not have the editor's stamp of approval. If you're not a fan of the vivid colors either, we rounded up some more toned-down pieces in neutral hues that you're sure to love.

Erin Fitzpatrick
Senior News Editor

Erin got her start as a Who What Wear intern over 12 years ago—back when the site only published a single story per day. (Who What Wear has since increased that number twentyfold.) She graduated magna cum laude from USC, which is how she ended up moving to Los Angeles from her hometown of San Diego. In college, she also interned at Refinery29, where she was promoted to editorial assistant and then assistant editor. After nearly three years at R29, she came back to WWW in 2016, where she currently holds the title of senior news editor (as well as the unofficial title of resident royal expert—in case you haven't noticed her numerous Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton stories). She spends her days trying to incorporate her idols, Anna Wintour and Roger Federer, into as many stories as possible. Outside of work, she loves tennis, classic rock, traveling, and smothering her dog with affection.
