This Ancient Jewellery Trend Is Like 2018's "New Choker"

While slip dresses and belt bags are among the plethora of '90s trends joining our wardrobes this summer, the comeback isn't finished yet. As soon as Victoria Beckham put anklets back on the catwalk this season and the influencers joined in, it became A Thing. While VB went for jewel-encrusted versions, the season has seen our feelings develop towards braided, beaded and more boho versions too. Delicate chains with dainty charms have been doing the rounds on the Insta circuit and luckily you can pick them up on the high street for as little as a fiver, which means it's your fast track to a feel-good accessory update.

Still not convinced? The one and only Pernille Teisbaek even has an anklet tattoo, which compliments the real jewellery versions she's also styling out right now—now that's dedication to a trend. Meanwhile, Italy's coolest lady, Gilda Ambrosio, has been fully behind the stacked anklet selection since the last round of fall fashion shows in 2017—she's still wearing them on her recent summer vacation.

The anklet may be thousands of years old (the ancient Egyptians were fans, you know) and slightly marred with a bad press (apparently history has associated anklet-wearing with being a prostitute), but there's something quite modern about wearing them with your latest garms. The way we'd style it is with with cropped white jeans, a cream T-shirt and strappy sandals; on the beach with statement swimwear; or as a complementary mix-and-match combination with equally statement shoes. Either way, it’s a win-win that’ll cost you the same as an iced skinny vanilla latte to go.

See how the anklet trend is being worn…

Of course Leandra Medine takes it to the next level.

Strappy sandals and anklets? There's nothing more summer 2018 than this.

They're even attached to shoes these days.

In an ideal world, we'd have the Chanel shoes and the lamp as well.
