After months of chaos surrounding the firing of its controversial founder, Dov Charney, American Apparel is turning the page with a brand overhaul, whose main focus is to eliminate its association with overt sexiness. Originally known for its risqué advertisements and clothing, the company has made it clear that it’s moving on from that image, with a recent 39-slide presentation given to investors.
And from the looks of it, American Apparel is more than moving on. New goals include transforming the brand from one that's, in its own words, "offensive to many" and "inappropriate" to one that’s positive, inclusive, and socially conscious. We can definitely get on board with that!
