According to a report published by WWD this morning, beloved designer Alexander Wang is set to end his role as creative director of Balenciaga after his upcoming S/S 16 show at Paris Fashion Week in September. This news comes after rumours swirled earlier this summer about Wang wanting to leave the storied house to focus full-time on his namesake line. However, the exact reasoning for the separation has not been confirmed. Market sources did tell WWD that Balenciaga’s parent company, Kering, has already begun searching for his replacement, and hinted that it could be someone lesser-known than Wang this time around, due to the positive response to Alessandro Michele’s placement at Gucci.
