7 Ageless Styling Tricks I'm Trying This Spring

I've never been all that concerned with ageing. I was brought up to see it as a privilege. As such, milestone birthdays have come and gone, and I haven't batted an eyelid.

That being said, the last thing I want is to wake up one day and realise my sense of style has changed. I firmly believe that you can wear whatever you please at whatever age you please. Still, even I have found myself gravitating away from more directional pieces and instead leaning very much into the modest way of dressing. It's not that I mind—I've always preferred midi and long-sleeve dresses to the mini, short-sleeve variety, but I don't want to look older than I am.

To stop my wardrobe from inadvertently ageing me, I set out to find ageless spring styling tips. Naturally, I turned to Instagram, where I would see countless looks that show just that. Keep scrolling to check out my tricks and to shop the pieces I'll rely on in the spring for their timeless appeal.

1. LAYER A TRENCH

Style Notes: Though it's not warm enough to leave the house sans coat, the timeless trench makes for a chic alternative to the puffers we've been wearing all winter. We love how Renia has elevated this look to chic new heights with the addition of a camel roll-neck.

2. DON CLASSIC DENIM

Style Notes: Denim is universal, and it comes in particularly handy in spring when it's bright out but the temperature needs to play catch-up. Look for classic pieces that'll transcend the seasons as well as the years.

3. COLLECT BRETON STRIPES

Style Notes: Breton stripes have made a major comeback this year and are guaranteed to add polish to everything from leggings to joggers.

4. WEAR WHITE SHOES

Style Notes: Black shoes are all well and good, but as we transition into spring, swap them out for cool white footwear to give your entire look a bit of youthful edge.

5. EMBRACE BRIGHT SUITING

Style Notes: Grey tones belong in winter. For spring, embrace bright hues that look fresh and will, in turn, make you feel more confident. We all know confidence makes you look your best.

6. PICK FLORAL DRESSES

Style Notes: Nothing says spring quite like a floral dress, a foolproof outfit solution for any occasion. We think it looks its best with a basket bag and stacked jewellery.

7. PLAY WITH HAIR ACCESSORIES

Style Notes: Barrettes, scrunchies, and headbands are still having a moment. Given their connotations of school attire, it's little wonder that they bestow their wearer with a youthful aura.
