Finding an entire outfit for under £200 might sound like an easy task (I mean, that's a sizable amount of money), but as someone who has had many years of experience of trawling high street in an attempt to find a dress, shoes and bag on a budget, it's easier said than done.
This dilemma is particularly pressing when it comes to wedding season. By the time you approach the big day, you've already forked out for a hen do, wedding gift and hotel stay, so the last thing you want to do is remortgage your flat in order to scrape together the funds for that perfect ensemble. What you really need is someone with an encyclopedic knowledge of the high street, who dedicates far too much of her life scrolling through the new-in sections of your favourite fashion sites—and who actually enjoys putting together outfits. Lucky you have me then.
It is possible to unearth those affordable gems on the high street; you just need to put in the hours to find the good stuff. And I've done all the hard work for you and put together four wedding-guest outfits that all come in at £200 and under. From Zara's coloured suit to Miss Selfridge's seriously chic checked midi, each look feels suitably spring/summer 2019. However, they're all timeless enough to serve you for many seasons to come. Satin Midi + Snake Print + Marble Clutch = £200
Style Notes: COS's silken midi might be on the higher end of the price spectrum, but it's totally worth it for its expensive-looking finish. Add some personality with snake-print heels and a marble-print bag.
Pink Suit + Kitten Heels + Beaded Bag = £200
Style Notes: If you haven't fallen in love with any dresses this season, why not experiment with a coloured suit? This Zara two-piece packs a punch with its powder-pink hue and bold silhouette, just add accessories in muted shades of tan.
Printed Dress + Shell Earrings + Heeled Sandals + Top Handle Bag = £166
Style Notes: There are plenty of floral frocks on the high street right now, but I think the abstract print on this H&M dress feels far more high-end. Ideal for cooler climes thanks to its long sleeves, it'll look so stylish with white strappy heels and shell earrings.
Checked Dress + Neon Heels + Pearl Bag + Hoops = £120
Style Notes: Colour-clashing doesn't get better than this. I couldn't quite believe this wrap dress was from Miss Selfridge, but one thing's for sure: It won't stick around for long. Embrace the rainbow and accessorise with Topshop's acid-green heels and a pearly bag.
