9 Ways to Swoop Into a Festival Like an Off-Duty Model

Hi, Who What Wear UK readers!

After going to both Glastonbury and Cookout festival in one weekend, I’ve definitely worked out a few festival dressing tips that are worth remembering. If you want to stay away from the usual floral-headband-and-boho look that is now so traditional for festivals, then look no further. Scroll down to see my nine favourite ways to have fun with your stage-side style this summer.

You need to prepare for those inevitable summer showers, of course! I wanted people to still be able to see part of my look, so I chose this semi-opaque Hunter Original Clear Poncho (£140) for my second day at Glastonbury.

Instead of face paint or regular makeup, I went for glitter at the SBTV Summer Cookout Festival I hosted. One thing I really loved about it is that it stayed on all day and night without smudging—perfect if you don't want to keep checking whether your festival look is still intact half way through your day.

I channeled "designer scuba diver" instead of the usual colourful prints and hippy style you'd normally find at a festival. To balance the idea, I kept my colour palette very minimal and embellished the look with standout accessories—like these Garrett Leight sunglasses—instead.

One of my favourite accessories for any festival this summer would be a pair of mirrored glasses. They come in so many different shades and hues to complement your look—and, should you enjoy a selfie or two, they always photograph well.

I decided I wanted to give real Coachella vibes to my Glastonbury wardrobe, so I had my hair plaited into a fun style called "Ghana braids"—not only do they look good, but they last and stop you from needing to worry about repeatedly washing or re-styling your hair. There are more exciting things to be doing!

If it's set to be hot during the day, go one step further than a crop top and use the event as a good opportunity to get some extra wear out of your summer bikini! I opted for a stars and stripes number from American Apparel to go with my ripped shorts and wellies. Why not?

Forget the floral crown idea and up the ante with a set of hair rings. They're a chic and easy way to style a hairdo during the festival period—my favourite way of using them is to bejewel a French plait.

For hands-free festival ease I opted for a vintage Chanel fanny pack to store my essentials! A small bumbag or side-bag will save you the hassle of lugging around a handbag—and you'll work out what you really need for the day ahead.

Who is your style icon?

Definitely has to be between Rihanna and A$AP Rocky! I love how Rihanna changes her style constantly and isn't afraid to experiment with her look. But if I was a boy I would be A$AP Rocky—from the hair to the clothes!

Who are your 3 favorite people to follow on Instagram?

@love.watts for random images for inspiration; @ader_error because they're my favourite clothing brand and have such creative visuals; @themodeofficial for fashion week coverage.

What is the fashion essential you can’t live without?

A cross body bag or backpack—I hate handbags!

What would be your desert island album?

Something by either Bree Runway or Lancey Foux because they're the greatest UK artists of all time. But they haven't got albums yet…
