Few things in life are as thrilling as shopping for fall clothes. That being said, it is nearly impossible to wait until the days get shorter and cooler to debut our new autumn finds. So, with a casual summer approach, here is what and how to wear some great transitional pieces...now!
Must-Try #1: Oversized Men's Trousers
We fancied the fall runways' offerings of intentionally big menswear trousers, styled with sweaters and jackets. And while it's not cold outside yet, we see no reason why you can't be the first amongst your peers to rock this trend. Just style your trousers with smaller tank tops (in classic white) and flat, summery sandals (in a colour, perhaps?) to make it between-seasons friendly. Cinch your waist with a skinny men's belt, and brighten the entire look with a coloured clutch and punchy lipstick.
Must-Try #2: Cable-Knit Sweaters
Nothing is cuter or cozier than a good old cable-knit pullover sweater in cream or oatmeal. We say wear it on a summer night, but paired with leather or silk shorts to celebrate the sweater's texture and versatility. Finish the look with a simple strappy heel to make your gams the star or with a Birkenstock to feel effortless.
Must-Try #3: Oversized Coats
Everyone from Chloe to Stella made us covet an oversized menswear-inspired coat for fall. To get the most mileage out of this overcoat investment, start wearing yours over sundresses (especially in softer floral prints and colours) on cooler summer nights. We love the masculine-feminine feel of this look, and suggest pulling out some great earrings and high heels to boot.
Must-Try #4: Leather
So you pulled the trigger and bought some amazing skinny leather pants: now what? While wonderful in winter too, this year-round favourite looks equally great now paired with casual knit pocket or graphic tees. Opt for open-toe shoes and perhaps a cross-body bag to punctuate its summer casual feel. If you're more of a leather jacket girl, style this trusty piece over a breezy midi dress in a fun print or even a romper, as it is sure to make your playsuit ready for night.
