Behati Prinsloo's Day In The Who What Wear Closet
Everyone talks about attaining that model-off-duty look--the sort of effortlessly stylish ensembles that models tend to wear when they’re not on a runway--and no one exemplifies this better than Behati Prinsloo. You’ve likely spotted the gorgeous Namibian model in the pages of Victoria’s Secret’s catalogue--she was anointed an Angel in 2009--but she’s also making a splash among the fashion set and on countless street style websites, thanks to her cool personal style. She favours laid-back silhouettes with a decidedly tough-girl spin, often giving downtown edge to her printed dresses and maxi skirts with a leather jacket, fedora, or biker boots. We invited her to raid the Who What Wear closet with one mission in mind: curate the perfect model-off-duty outfit! Click through our slideshow to see the results, plus shop the rest of Prinsloo’s favourite picks now.
Prinsloo had a blast trying on different pieces in our closet. Although they didn’t make the cut for her final look, she loved the Homie accessories by Brian Lichtenberg. “I am really into these!” she says.
Her perfect model-off-duty ensemble? A look that’s part Californian boho (a floaty, tie-dye skirt, plenty of silver jewellery), part Brooklyn cool kid (a bowler hat and menswear-inspired oxfords).

Raquel Allegra Silk Skirt ($450, available end of May) in Ivory Spray Tie Dye
Robert Clergerie Wappy Oxfords ($595)
This Flawless by Victoria’s Secret Flawless Demi Bra ($52) in Sunset Glow Over Sugar Baby is prized for its incredible support and fit. Just ask Prinsloo--she should know!
When she’s not working, Prinsloo favours comfortable, chic footwear, anything from sneakers to boots, such as Modern Vice’s Jett Classic Boots ($398) in Black. “I like that these are flat and kind of look like Dr. Martens,” she says.
“I like the print of 3.1 Phillip Lim’s Jacket with Combo Undercollar ($725) in Natural,” Prinsloo explains. “I would wear it with jeans, skirts, shorts, a long t-shirt dress, or some leather pants.”
All Saints’ Smiley Silk Tank ($128) appealed to Prinsloo’s playful sensibilities perfectly, especially worn with skinnies and buckle boots.
Though the model says she lives in her denim cutoffs, she couldn’t resist Love Leather’s adorable The Tight End Shorts ($375, available late May). The flamingo-printed pair is a cool way of working leather into your warm-weather repertoire.
You’ll rarely spot a model without a stylish pair of shades. Classic with a retro twist, Sunday Somewhere’s round Soelae Sunglasses ($240) were Prinsloo’s pick.
“I really like crop tops and high-waisted things,” Prinsloo says. No wonder Raquel Allegra’s Baby Tee ($156, avaiable in August) in Bamboo Blue Tie Dye was a clear choice. We could see the model pairing it with a high-waisted leather skirt for an alluring night-out look.
A brightly coloured sweater, such as Club Monaco’s Jennifer Mélange Sweater ($150), is a must for throwing on over simple t-shirts and jeans.
We’re not surprised Prinsloo chose Surface to Air’s Melia T Dress V2 ($160). This sleek t-shirt dress is ideal for day-to-night dressing.
Prinsloo singled out Reiss’ Perrine Perspex Zip Round Hard Clutch Tortoise Shell ($240) for its unique transparent style. “I thought this bag was interesting,” she says. “I like pieces that you don’t see everywhere or all the time.”
