Are Dad Shoes the Next Big Sneaker Obsession?

If you've been feeling like we're due for a new sneaker trend, you're not alone. Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner, arguably the biggest trendsetting celebrities on the planet right now, both recently endorsed a surprising style—dad sneakers. Before you write it off, hear us out.

The clunky white, vaguely orthopaedic-inspired sneakers that you'd typically associate with dad types feel fresh and unexpected among the sea of vintage styles that everyone has been wearing for the past couple of years. While Kendall's gone full-blown dad with her outfit by wearing an oversize sweater and grey trousers with Nike sneakers, Gigi Hadid opted to pair her Reeboks with a cashmere tracksuit and long coat. And just like that, the start of a new, versatile sneaker trend is clearly on the horizon.

Dad shoes are in keeping with the "ugly" shoe phenomenon that's happening, and given the KenGi endorsement, it could only be a matter of time before these comfortable shoes are on every fashion girl's feet.
