Pantone's Colour of the Year for 2015 Is...

Pantone has revealed its annual colour of the year for 2015! Following up to 2014's Radiant Orchid, a bright, almost neon purple, the Pantone Colour of the Year for 2015 is what might be considered its precise opposite: a dark, rusty red known as Marsala.

"Marsala enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability," Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Colour Institute, said in a statement. "Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal, while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness. This hearty yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings, and interiors."

The Colour of the Year is chosen each year by combing through design from fashion to interiors to graphics, and finding a common colour thread that ties them all together. Spring runways that incorporated marsala include Fendi, Dennis Basso, Hervé Leger, and many more!
