No One Is Dressing Like This Anymore

Over the past several seasons, it's become quite apparent that fashion girls have abandoned overtly revealing outfits. We all know fashion moves in phases, but following a body-con boom, there was bound to be a backlash. Some would say that this shift began in 2010 when Leandra Medine introduced the "Man Repeller" concept. Others would argue that it stemmed from designers, like Phoebe Philo at Céline, searching for a way to keep busy women's wardrobes looking relaxed and easy, while never sloppy. The more recent nail was hammered on the "sexy"-outfit coffin when Balenciaga and Vetements creative director Demna Gvasalia influenced consumers (and other brands) with his signature exaggerated oversize designs. The trend has naturally trickled down to fast-fashion brands, with Zara and H&M filling recent new season collections with oversize and non-gendered styles.

Throughout the most recent fashion month, we couldn't help but notice one insider after another choosing covered-up, oversize, and masculine-inspired outfits instead of tight, skin-baring ones. Some brought feminine touches to their looks via accessories, colour, and draped fabric, but not a hint of anything you'd pinpoint as raunchy was in sight.

To see what we mean, check out the outfits that fashion girls are wearing instead of "sexy" ones below, and then shop pieces to help you achieve the look.
