But Seriously, Why Is Everyone Still Obsessed With These Shoes?
Our editors have noticed that one pair of shoes keeps reappearing at the top of our Facebook feeds and Pinterest boards, which is surprising, especially given that Aimee Song wore them to fashion week way back in 2014. The shoes in question are Oscar Tiye's sandals and stilettos, which feature adorable Minnie Mouse ears at the back of the ankle, and are available in a rainbow of colours on Farfetch. And now Primark has created its own version of the Minnie Mouse shoes with gold and black sparkling "ear" stilettos for £14 in its autumn drop.
These are the definition of an Instagram accessory, but the hype also has a lot to do with the industry's long-standing obsession with the fashionable mouse. There's a history of designers copying the cartoon character's signature look—back in 2012 London Fashion Week paid tribute to Minnie with designers creating looks inspired by the Disney icon, Vans has had a Minnie-inspired collection, Miu Miu once sent models down the catwalk in polka dots with their hair in two buns and Love magazine once even dressed Cara Delevingne and Georgia May Jagger as Minnie for a cover. A pair of Minnie Mouse heels might seem like the ultimate novelty purchase, but perhaps this is one viral fashion trend that doesn't date?
