The Most Insane Swim Trends From Miami Fashion Week

It'll come as no surprise that Miami Swim Week is the place to spot up-and-coming beachwear trends, and like many other show seasons, there was a fair amount of outrageousness to note. In fact, with so many jaw-dropping looks breezing down the catwalks, we'd go as far to say that this is quite possibly the most loco season so far.

When it comes to swimwear, we all know that you can't go wrong with the classics. Those wear-with-everything, tan-friendly, figure-flattering pieces that go hand in hand with summer will forever remain our go-to when packing for our upcoming vacay, but according to Miami, these fail-safe styles are out. Instead, the new vibe is undoubtedly catered to the bravest of bathing beauties. Practicality is dead.

From crochet bikinis complete with fancy fringing on the briefs to red lace one-pieces with cutout detailing so daring we'd question how to even slip into it—scroll down to see the most outré trends from Miami Swim Week.

Biker Boots and Fishnets

Style Notes: Forget woven beach bags and lace-up espadrille wedges—the new must-have accessories for the beach (according to MFW and this particular brand, KAOHS) is the lace-up biker boot worn with fishnet suspenders. Good for a staycation… perhaps?

Fancy Fringing

Style Notes: We're naming this Beach Bunny ensemble the least radical of the bunch, but it still makes a statement. On first glance, a boho-style white crochet bikini is just the ticket. Look a little closer, and you'll spot the new-season style memo—fringing where you'd least expect it.

The Cape

Style Notes: Where once we'd turn to a fail-safe cover-up in the form of a kimono or perhaps even an embroidered kaftan, next season we could be replacing such summer staples with a billowing, matching chiffon cape. The upside of this Aguaclara creation? Heroic capes have already been championed by the likes of Solange (bow down), plus it does provide a little extra sun protection.

Cutouts

Style Notes: Dedicated tanners look away now. HAH's full sleeved, sheer red lace one-piece, complete with cutouts on the hip and choker detailing at the neck is about as risqué as it gets.

Next up, the perfect dress that has truly taken over our Instagram feeds.
